Newt Gingrich Nailin’ Sarah Palin’s Political Coffin Shut

Newt Gingrich is making a genius out of me.  I’ve been saying for a long time that the GOP is looking to jettison S505px-sarah_palin_kuwait_22a3arah Palin as a candidate for 2012.  While I have accumulated a mountain of evidence of this, Gingrich pretty much spells it out.  Asked, by Christianity Today, who are the GOP’s leaders, with Palin and Jindal as a starting point (Who do you see as the emerging leaders in the Republican Party: Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin?) , Gingrich goes through every Republican he can think of, even someone named Linda Lingle, but…

You didn’t mention Sarah Palin.

Wow, there seems to be a lot of that going around.  I call it “Sarahmnesia.”  Gingrich’s self-contradictory response almost sounds like a veiled threat:

Sarah Palin has an obvious role if she wants it. The question for her has to be, are she and her family willing to go through another couple of years of the kind of media coverage that they currently get? Is she willing to do the kind of development of national issues and development of a national profile that would be required? She is a celebrity in her own right. She is probably the most successful figure in the party right now, and she’s a formidable figure. I think to go from there to becoming a national leader would take a significant amount of work.

So, she’s the biggest thing in the GOP, and that hurts her nationally?  It doesn’t make any sense.

What does make sense is Newt’s “friendly warning” that a presidential campaign will mean more scrutiny, more revelations of an embarrassing, personal nature by “the media” (aided by what kinds of leaks?).

It’s a shame the GOP are trying to destroy her, and I hope it doesn’t work.  Sarah Palin deserves strong, principled opposition, not to be kneecapped by her own side for getting too big for her britches.

  1. Sarah loves the attention, she sure isn’t doing anything to remove herself OR her family from the limelight, now is she?

Newt is just Newt, and am I mistaken, didn’t he get booted out by the GOP?

and now he wants to slime back into their graces by slamming their “madonna”?

poor Sarah, the scapegoat again, shoulda said, “thanks, but no thanks”, when the GOP came aknocking on your door…

  2. Bobby Jindal looks like a brown Alfred E. Neuman.

  3. LMAO! Xanadu Xero–now that you mention it…..

  4. I just gotta ask this, Tommy–doesn’t Palin have PR people working for her? I mean, who keeps putting her out there besides those in the GOP that just don’t want her to run in 2012? (Shit, I can’t believe we are even talking about 2012, I can’t ‘calendar’ things in past a week!)

By the way, great show with you boys.

Hi Diana, Michelle, and Peggy! What a time we had while the boys hollered, huh? LOL

  6. For the sake of the Party, Sarah Palin should stay in Alaska. She seems nice enough, but she’s not terribly bright — and that’s not merely some media smear. Her hard-line stance on social issues is outdated, and her socialist fiscal agenda — steal from the”evil” oil companies and give to the workers — fits better with the “other” Party than with the Republicans.

Is there any sentient life left in the Republican Party?

  7. Let’s hope she doesn’t. Look how far she’s gotten without the help.

  8. hey this is America….even Sarah can run for office…

    Run, Sarah Run!

  9. I agree that even Sarah can run for office. And having her run for the Presidency in 2012 is a good idea, as long as it’s four more years of Obama that you want.

  10. Ahhh the sanity of The Daily Dose. So zen like over here. It’s a real war zone over at PM.

That’s a valid and scary point, Tommy.

  11. I actually hope that Sarah Palin does run in 2012. She is a hate monger, an avid animal killer, and can’t even keep her own family’s shit straight which begs the question how would she run the country. I am so very sick of her name and her face and her spreading lies that I would love to sit back and watch her bury herself so that she won’t even be media worthy anymore. THAT would be cool 🙂

  12. I am so amazed at those who someone view themselves as so much more intelligent than Sarah Palin and all of those of us who do support her. You have all done what with your lives?

As far as intelligence I don’t know if IQ is necessarily what makes one a good or a bad leader. Obama is a Marxist and views the constitution as a flawed document. When your best buds with a man such as William Ayres you are not a mainstream person.

Regarding Newt. I view this as the same old group of people in the center of the GOP or whatever party you wish to reference not wanting to accept that maybe someone else should take the reins.

If Obama had been subjected to the same media scrutiny as Palin was we would either have John McCain as President or Hillary.

  13. Although Obama wasn’t my first choice, I am thankful that the election didn’t go the other way. We haven’t had any good alternatives. It breaks my heart that we have to choose between the best of two evils in the past few elections. All the real talent seems to be scared away by the way they and their families will be treated by the opposition and the media during any campaign. It’s so sad that we no longer elect our officials based on their abilities, but soley based on who can run the best smear campaigns. So very sad. God bless our troops and God bless the United states of America!

  14. re–Vanadu Better a Jindal a brown Alfred Neuman than Obama a Black “USA of KKK” Marxist/racist Rev. Wright.

  15. Yo, ardis, ‘Vanadu’ here. You’re comment makes XERO sense if it’s off mine. Homework: read it again. You are obviously a product of the U.S. public school system so all is forgiven.

  16. “Newt Nailing Palin…” is not so far fetched a thought. I mean, isn’t it true that Newt was nailing his campaign manager — in his office — while his late wife was dying of cancer in the hospital?

Heck, if we put Newt with Plain behind closed doors. I’m sure we’d be hearing his desk rattling like a bed matress, as they worked on the gop’s moral majority policy agenda.

Both of these freaks have typical gop phony morals, and thus, fit each other perfectly.

  17. Linda Lingle is the Governor of Hawaii. Seems a bit shallow that Christopher did n’t know that. One must wonder about the “depth” of his political knowlege.

  18. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, gosh Sarah, you can still see Russia from your house! That’s really terrific. All you need is an education and you might make it out of Alaska and leave those poor moose alone. Killing wolves from an airplaine? Now that really takes guts. I can see why the people of Alaska love you, or do they???

  19. I was obviously joking, dude, it was right there in Newt’s interview. Didn’t you read the rules?

  23. Why is the GOP not saying anything about the coup of their party by the gays? Gays claim that 7 out of 10 of them voted for McCain and that as a Repubican has me baffled. And then that Schmidt guy and Megan McCain has come out and stated that the party gays have had enough but what struck me the most is when Schmidt started attacking religion in the Republican party and I have not heard one Republican say one word including Newt! As far as Palin is concerned I regret I campaigned for her in the beginning she is nothing more than a hypocrite posing as a Christian and because of her it will be my last resort for me to ever vote for a woman to rule over me! I see now why her “creator” stated he did not women to rule over men but Palin with her dark mind with no understanding must have missed that memo seeing that she only concentrates on Abortions and Gays which Abortions is not mentioned in the Bible and it talks more about sexual immorality, divorce and adultery than it does about homosexuality. If she is so into the “Creator” then she should read his memo on how she should be at home taking care of her husband and her kids!

  24. Sarah is a national figure because she is a national joke. She was not ready for prime time in 2008, and it is highly doubtful she will be able to prepare herself to be ready for prime time by 2012.

Does that mean she won’t run in 2012 or the GOP won’t back her? Probably not, since neither she or the GOP have a clue.

I say, ” RUN , Sarah, RUN. Democrats are counting on you….”

  26. […] Sarah Palin is the GOP’s only rock star, a politician capable of energizing the base and attracting at least some new voters, but conservative leaders, from Newt Gingrich to John McCain, and even Fox News, have been trying to convince the world that Palin is done. […]

  27. I love the dems who say Palin running will help the dems.

Republicans said the same thing about Obama winning the dem nomination: Obama has no executive experience, so he can’t possibly win the presidency this time around, lol.

  31. Newt’s eye is more black-and-blue from adverse media coverage than Palin’s. I think Newt is mistaken in his views on Palin.
